Online training: a personal walking tour of Aluka

May 1st, 2008 by Michael Gallagher, User Support

The Help documentation in Aluka is constantly revised and updated into the three languages of Aluka: English, French, and Portuguese. It is a powerful reference for both troubleshooting and tips on how best to use Aluka. However, sometimes words aren’t enough. Aluka offers online training precisely for these moments. Aluka offers free online training to all institutions and individuals. This online training can be customized to suit your research needs or those of your class; it can be as general or as detailed as you want. Participants would be able to see and hear the presentation from the comfort of their classrooms, their computer labs, or even their laptop at home. It is entirely customizable to the needs of the individual or group.

Aluka can support up to 25 people at one time for training, making it a perfect compliment to any class or research group. Aluka would organize everything; participants would only need access to a computer with Internet and a phone (Skype is supported as well). Aluka would call you at the pre-arranged time.

There are some technical requirements you should consider. Computers would need a minimum of:

  • Internet Explorer® 5.0 or newer, Netscape® 6.0 or newer, Mozilla® Firefox® 1.0 or newer (JavaScript™ and Java™ enabled)
  • Windows® 2000, XP, 2003 Server or Vista
  • Stable 56k, cable modem, ISDN, DSL, or better Internet connection
  • Minimum of Pentium® 400 MHz with 256 MB of RAM (recommended)
  • If you are interested, contact Aluka User Services at user_services@aluka.org. Please feel free to ask questions about Aluka, our training, your training needs or suitable topics for the training presentation. Training can be arranged at minimal notice with little to no fuss. So, rather than go looking for Help, let us reach out to you!
